Ladybugs, Hippodamiaconvergens, are voracious predators of soft bodied pests especially aphids, but also scale insects and mealy bugs.
Directions: After purchase rinse bag under cold tap water, then store refrigerated, 38°F, until release. Do not freeze. Release as soon as possible at dusk in watered garden near plants with aphids or other pests. If ladybugs settle down each adult can eat 5,000 aphids, then lay up to 1,500 tiny yellow eggs. Eggs hatch into black alligator like larvae. The larvae can each eat another 400 aphids, before in turn pupating and forming more adults.
The 1,500 adult ladybugs in this bag can be released in up to a 900 square foot garden.
Ladybugs are sensitive to insecticides. Do not use insecticides while ladybugs are working. Delay ladybug release 14 days after last use of poisons. Ladybugs are, however, compatible with SCANMASK beneficial nematodes applied to soil.
